Building Family Wealth, One Generation at a Time
We started Mumulus because watching families struggle with investment decisions—while banks pushed products nobody needed—just felt wrong. Since 2019, we've been helping Canadian families understand investing without the jargon or the pressure. Just honest guidance focused on what actually works.
Where We Came From
Our founder, Amélie Deschênes, spent years in traditional finance. The breaking point came in early 2019 when she watched a young couple get talked into high-fee mutual funds they didn't understand. They had simple goals—save for their kids' education, maybe retire comfortably. But the advice they got? Complicated products with hidden costs.
That night, Amélie started sketching out what would become Mumulus. Not another investment firm. A place where families could learn to invest together, make decisions that made sense for them, and build wealth without someone taking a cut at every turn.
By fall 2019, we opened our doors in Repentigny. Started with kitchen-table conversations, really. Families would come in, we'd talk through their situations. No hard sells. No pressure tactics. Just real conversations about money.

What Guides Our Work
These aren't just words on a wall. They're the principles we come back to when making decisions about how we work with families.
Education Over Sales
We teach families how to think about investing rather than telling them what to buy. When you understand the principles, you make better decisions for your specific situation. Always.
Transparency in Everything
Hidden fees destroyed trust in this industry. We show you exactly what things cost and why. If something doesn't make sense for your family, we say so—even if it means less business for us.
Long-Term Thinking
Building wealth takes time. We're not interested in quick wins or market timing. Our approach focuses on strategies that work over decades, not quarters. Because that's how real family wealth gets built.
The People Behind Mumulus
Small team. Big commitment to getting this right. We've all been on the other side of confusing financial advice, which is probably why we're so particular about how we explain things.
Amélie Deschênes
Founder & Investment EducatorLeft traditional finance in 2019 to build something better. Spent 11 years at major banks before deciding families deserved honest guidance. Still drinks too much coffee during market volatility.
Sébastien Langlois
Education CoordinatorFormer high school teacher who got tired of watching parents struggle with basic financial concepts. Joined us in 2021 to develop our family education programs. Makes complicated topics actually understandable.
How We Actually Work With Families
No cookie-cutter plans. No pressure to buy anything. We start by understanding your family's specific situation—what you're trying to build, what keeps you up at night, what matters most.
Then we teach. Show you how different investment approaches work, what the trade-offs are, where the costs hide. We map out options that fit your timeline and comfort level. Some families want hands-on involvement, others prefer simpler strategies. Both work fine.
The goal isn't to make you an expert. It's to give you enough understanding to make confident decisions and spot bad advice when you see it. Because you'll encounter plenty of that out there.

How We Got Here
From kitchen-table conversations to helping hundreds of families. Here's the short version of our journey.
The Beginning
Amélie opened Mumulus in a small Repentigny office. First client was her neighbor who'd been avoiding investing for years because it seemed too complicated. We spent three hours just talking through the basics.
Growing Through Uncertainty
Market crash in March. Instead of losing clients, we gained them—families wanted someone who'd explain what was happening without trying to sell panic or promises. Started our weekly education sessions during lockdown.
Expanding the Team
Brought Sébastien on board to develop our family education programs. Moved to a larger space to accommodate growing interest in our workshops. Started getting referrals from clients' kids who wanted the same honest approach.
Multi-Generation Impact
Now working with families across three generations in some cases. Grandparents, parents, and adult children all learning together. That's when we knew we were onto something that actually mattered.

What You Can Expect From Us
Straight talk about what's possible with your money. We won't promise returns we can't guarantee or suggest strategies that don't fit your situation. We will teach you enough to spot nonsense when you hear it elsewhere.
We're particular about taking on new families. Not because we're exclusive, but because we want to make sure we're a good fit. Our approach works best for families committed to learning and patient enough to let strategies work over time.
If that sounds right to you, let's have a conversation. No obligation. Just an honest discussion about whether we can help with what you're trying to build.
